France Raises Security Alert Level after Moscow Attack

  • France

Paris, March 25 (QNA) - France announced that it increased its security alert warning to the highest level Sunday after the armed attack at a Russian concert hall, which left 137 dead and dozens injured.

French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal said Sunday that the country was raising its security alert to the highest level after the Moscow concert hall attack.

The announcement came after French President Emmanuel Macron held an emergency security meeting prompted by Friday's attack in a Moscow suburb.

Given the claim of responsibility for the attack by ISIS and the threats weighing on France "we have decided to raise the Vigipirate state to its highest level: emergency attack," Attal said in a post on X, raising the level again just three months after it was lowered in January.

France's terror alert system has three levels, and the highest level is activated in the wake of an attack in France or abroad or when a threat of one is considered to be imminent.
It allows for exceptional security measures such as stepped-up patrols by armed forces in public places. (QNA)
